Dragon Boating – A Community Built on ConnectionIf you practice regularly at Root Down, you’ve most likely experienced the same sense of community we all feel. Community connects us with each other. It’s relational and built on a foundation of trust, belonging, and safety. Just like Russian nesting dolls, communities often sit within other communities.
This summer, we’d like to invite you to experience another “community” within Root Down – the dragon boat community. Dragon boating is an ancient Chinese sport that originated more than 2000 years ago. A dragon boat is 40’ long and human-powered by 20 paddlers. This fun, recreational sport has been a fixture in our community since 2013. Paddling a dragon boat requires unity, strength, power, balance, effort, ease, and most importantly trust. Sound familiar? It has many parallels to yoga and connects us to the water and each other. It’s meditation in motion!
Join us for a unique and fun experience on the Black River, just a few blocks west of the studio. Space is limited to only 20 people. All paddles and safety equipment will be provided. Open to anyone age 14 years and older (minors must be accompanied by a parent).

Important Reminders: bring a water bottle, apply sunscreen, and dress for outdoor activity
DISCOUNTS: Annual and workplace members, students, military and seniors receive 10% off and must pay at the studio to receive the discount.
REFUNDS: Please note that all workshops are non-refundable. If you need to cancel this workshop, you will receive an in house credit towards a future purchase. No cash or credit card refunds will be issued unless the workshop is cancelled by Root Down Yoga. Thank you.
