About this Event
VUPA will be collaborating with Melbourne Flames which offers world-class coaching with a focus on good technique, fitness and teamwork. Little did we know, dragon boating is one of Australia’s fastest growing water sports.

Giveaway: First 15 sign-ups will receive a VUPA 2023 t-shirt
After signing up with VUPA, please head to the Melbourne Flames website https://members.melbourneflames.com.au/registration/ and sign up for your free 1-month membership. Please sign up with Melbourne Flames before the 18th of May to allow the system to process your membership.
VUPA will be in touch to confirm your participation, t-shirt size for the first 15 sign-ups a few days before the event and to make sure participants have signed up with Melbourne Flames as well. Please keep in mind failure to register with Melbourne Flames will result in you not being able to boat with others on the day.
A representative from Melbourne Flames would also be in touch to run through some important information prior to the event.
If you find yourself not able to attend the event, please contact VUPA's social media as soon as possible to allow other students in joining us.
Weather Condition
As this event is conducted outdoors, please keep an eye out on VUPA's social media for further updates if the weather is not in our favour for this event to proceed.
On The Day
Please keep an eye out for VUPA members that morning, we will be wearing our VUPA t-shirt. We will be taking your attendance and checking in with all participants on the day. Please arrive by 8:15 am to ease the process of taking attendance.
Melbourne Flames will be spending about an hour on the water. Participants please arrive on time so we can provide you with a paddle and life jacket before the team warm-up and safety briefing.
The lucky first 15 sign-ups will be able to collect their t-shirt after the event.
Light refreshments will be provided after the event.
What to Bring
What should you bring to a dragon boat paddling session?
- Water bottle
- Weather appropriate clothes that you don’t mind getting wet (i.e. hat and polarised sunglasses for when it’s sunny, thermals in winter)
- Towel and a change of dry clothes (we have shower and locker facilities)
- Sense of adventure and a positive attitude!
