About this Event

Drag Queen Story Hour is just what it sounds likeā€”drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and other community spaces. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. And because drag queens are professional, eye-catching performers, they are also the perfect ambassadors for helping kids to discover the magic of reading!

Children with disabilities are welcome at any DQSH event, but DQSH for Kids With Autism & Other Special Needs has the needs of children with ASD and other special needs in mind by design. Read more about what makes these events accessible at www.lineupthebooks.com/dqsh.

Our theme for this program is FARMS! Our featured queen, Angel Elektra will be reading 4 books: Rosie's Walk (Hutchins), Barnyard Dance (Boynton), Pete the Cat: Old Macdonald Had a Farm (Dean), Click, Clack Moo: Cows that Type (Cronin). We will do a farm themed craft activity.

A social story will be emailed out the week of the event to all who register.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, proof of Covid vaccination is required and face coverings must be worn by adults and children over two years.

Drag Queen Story Hour NYC is a recipient of the Pride Gives Back grant from NYC Pride. Our Fall 2021 series of DQSH for Kids with Autism & Other Special Needs is made possible by this generous funding.
