About this Event
Join Shoe Lane Library and Sheila T. Cavanagh , Professor of English at Emory Universityfor this talk on her work with the Bram Stoker and Dracula archives.
Bram Stoker was a prolific writer, who published regularly throughout his life, even though he was working full-time as a theatre manager for the acclaimed Henry Irving. Most of his works have fallen from view, but Dracula continues to entrance readers and inspire adaptations in multiple genres. This talk will present some of the extensive research Stoker undertook for Dracula, much of which occurred in London. Books, newspaper articles, advertisements and maps helped create this infamous figure of the Undead. The Stoker archive now resides at Emory University, which, like London, has a strong history of exciting bibliographic resources. As we approach Halloween, we will explore both the lurid and the benign features of the road to Dracula and explores some of the paths this vampire is currently following.
This event will be delivered both in-person and online.
People with in-person tickets will be able to watch Sheila give her talk at Shoe Lane Library, and those with online tickets will be sent a Zoom link before the event. If you would like to change your ticket type, please get in touch with us directly.
