Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 40th Annual Commemorative Breakfast

The 40th Annual Commemorative Breakfast honoring the national holiday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the longest running celebrations in the state of Florida. In 1986, the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida met in St. Augustine to launch the state's recognition of the national holiday for Dr. King. The committee has continuously held programs on the third Monday of January since that time.

Please come and enjoy a delicious breakfast, a music and song, a presentation by the keynote speaker, Daryl D. Parks Esq., an accomplished lawyer and businessman and the managing partner at Parks Law, L.L.C. Through his dedication to civil rights activism and his commitment to community, Attorney Parks has represented families of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Corey Jones. The national reputation gained by Attorney Parks and his firm has led to his appearances on numerous national television broadcasts which include ABC, MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN.

The theme for the Breakfast will be "The Time is Always Right to do What is Right," a direct quote from Dr. King's speech at Oberlin College in 1964. The event will be held at The Renaissance St Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel on Saturday, January 18, 2024 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

The following Monday, January 20th, please join us for the Silent March at 9:00 am, beginning at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church lot (86 MLK Ave)to the Plaza de la Constitucion with speaker Paster E. Christ Washington of Beacon LIght Community Church. All are welcome to join!

All net proceeds go towards scholarship for current high school graduates who are continuing their education as well as other activities in support of the mission of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee Of St. Johns County, Inc.
