Join us for a dynamic joint author session featuring Dr. Bruce Strouble and Judge Woody R. Clermont at the 2026 Africana Arts & Humanities Festival — part of the theme "We, Too, Sing America: 250 Years of Black Life and Culture."
Both authors will present their work, engage with attendees, and sign books during this special combined session in Seminar Room #1 at the African-American Research Library & Cultural Center.
About Dr. Bruce Strouble & By Any Dreams Necessary:
Dr. Bruce W. Strouble Jr. is an environmental justice activist, anti-racism practitioner, educator, and author based in Tallahassee, Florida. A proud Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumnus with doctoral degrees in hand, Dr. Strouble has led climate-resilience efforts at Groundwork USA, developed community programs for the City of Tallahassee and FAMU's Sustainability Institute, and directed multi-million-dollar revitalization efforts in partnership with local leaders nationwide. He currently serves as Executive Director of Citizens for a Sustainable Future Inc. and President of ReThink Energy Florida.
His book, By Any Dreams Necessary: Anti-Racist Strategies for Sustainability, Resilience, and Environmental Justice, offers a transformative, strategic guide for enhancing sustainability, building resilience, and achieving environmental justice in African American communities. It is a call to action for Black communities to overcome historical barriers through solidarity, strategic thinking, and the courage to dream big.
About Judge Woody R. Clermont & The Black Wall Streets of America: Towards a Black Stock Exchange:
Judge Woody R. Clermont is a writer, educator, leader, and attorney whose work bridges law, economics, history, data science, spirituality, and personal transformation. A Haitian American judge admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and New Jersey, Judge Clermont brings over 21 years of courtroom experience to the bench. He is an award-winning author, recipient of multiple Literary Titan Gold and Silver Book Awards and a Second Place BookFest Award — most recently in the Business Industries category for his latest work.
The Black Wall Streets of America: Towards a Black Stock Exchange traces the rise of historic Black business districts such as Greenwood, Hayti, and Bronzeville, examining how African Americans built wealth and institutional power despite systemic exclusion — and how these ecosystems were intentionally dismantled. Blending history with economics, the book reframes Black Wall Street not as nostalgia but as a scalable model for modern wealth creation, presenting concrete strategies involving cooperative ownership, community land trusts, Black-led financial institutions, and exchange-centered capital systems.
