In the 1800s a young engineer overcame serious obstacles (including a plague) to bring Paris the obelisk. This is Apollinaire Lebas's story.
About this Event

In the 19th century massive obelisks left Egypt for Paris, London, and New York. The story of the New York and London obelisks are well known, but not so for the Paris obelisk, the first of the three moved. This lecture tells the remarkable saga of Apollinaire Lebas, the young engineer who overcame serious obstacles (including a plague) to bring Paris the obelisk.

Dinner afterward is available in the clubhouse dining room. Reservations recommended.
