DPW Special Waste Collection Event (Sat., November 29, 2025 @ RFK Lot 8)

Slight Location Update: DC DPW’s Special Waste Collection Event on Saturday, November 29, 2025, will take place at RFK Stadium's Parking Lot 8 (previous events have been held at RFK Lot 3).

To help attendees navigate to this new, larger location on the other side of RFK, please follow the posted signs to "Lot 8", which is accessible off of Independence Ave SE. The GPS coordinates to the entrance of Lot 8 are 38.888049, -76.971237.

A member of our staff may be stationed at the old location to direct attendees to the event's new location.

Join us for the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) Special Waste Collection Events! It's your chance to safely dispose of or recycle household hazardous waste, electronics, and secure documents.

To accommodate everyone safely and promptly, DPW now requires registration to participate in the Special Waste Collection Events.

Sign up below for a 15-minute arrival slot. You can arrive anytime within 15 minutes. Join the line when you arrive. Entry begins at 8:00 a.m., and the gate closes at 2:00 p.m.

Please note that your arrival slot is not a reservation or an appointment. Your timed arrival slot helps the DPW team maintain a steady flow of attendees and ensure a safer event.

Order only one ticket per event. Only one ticket is required per vehicle. Caution: Ordering multiple tickets does not allow for a wider time slot; it prevents other residents from utilizing the event and is a discouraged practice.

Open to DC residents only. Please bring proof of residency (e.g., a driver's license, utility bill, or lease agreement) and your Eventbrite registration. Have your ID and registration ready upon arrival. A DC resident must be present in every vehicle that arrives.

Acceptable materials:

• Household hazardous waste (HHW)
• Electronics
• Secure documents to shred

Safety Tips

• Have your ID and Eventbrite registration ready upon arrival.
• Join the line when you arrive and remain in your vehicle at all times
• Remove personal items from your trunk when dropping off special waste.
• Follow the instructions from all DPW crew members.
• Put away electronic devices to avoid distractions while driving.
