Join the curators of Drayton Hall for a downtown walking tour on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10 am. The tour will gather and begin in the garden (Rivers Green) behind the Addlestone Library at 71 Coming Street, Charleston, SC 29401. (see the map and get directions to 71 Coming Street by clicking here)Rebecca Perry Drayton (1758-1840) is known as the fourth wife of John Drayton (1715-1779) but she led a fascinating and long life well after John Drayton passed. In 1784 she sold Drayton Hall to her oldest surviving stepson, Charles Drayton (1743-1820) and moved into downtown Charleston with her children Ann, Susannah, and John. Join us for a fascinating walk around the historic Harleston neighborhood and learn about the legacy of Rebecca Perry Drayton and the many enslaved individuals in her household.
Comfortable shoes and water are suggested.
