Rain or shine on July 27th you can participate as an artist at our Downtown on Canvas event or come into town to watch while artists render downtown scenes, buildings and street corners in all mediums while our downtown is under construction. Even the big equipment and hard-hat wearing workers reconstructing Houghton Avenue may be featured in an artwork from noon- 4PM during our event. You need not be a member of our organization to participate. All supplies are provided by the artist and brought to his or her pre-assigned site. Stop by Fourth Street Artists Gallery to pre-register and select your location to create your masterpiece. There is a fee of $5 per artist and the deadline for registration is July 24th. Between 4 & 5:30 pm-ish participants will gather at the Gallery for non-alcoholic re-hydration & refreshments. Artists will choose their favorite work to be auctioned off during the evening event, Party on 4th Street, from 6 - 8 PM. All participating artists are encouraged to sell their art piece to ready-made buyers while having fun out in the street!
Come and celebrate the arts with us! Musical arts will be supplied by the Jam Dandies band. the Mid- Michigan Writers will share their literacy arts. In addition, there will be the art for sale, chalk for grownups and kids to make art on the blacktop, art related demonstrations and booths, And even a bit of dancing will be encouraged!
Our over 148 year old Gallery building which is filled with one of a kind handcrafted art all for sale will be open for the entire event.
