Learn how the city is updating the land use code to ensure our regulations continue to support a vibrant, welcoming and livable urban core.
About this Event

Bellevue has launched Downtown Livability 2.0, an update to the Downtown land use code originally adopted in 2017. As Downtown continues to grow, this effort will evaluate how the current code is working, identify areas for improvement and ensure our regulations continue to support a vibrant, welcoming and livable urban core.

Join city staff to learn about the proposed land use code amendment (LUCA), what updates are being considered and how the community can stay involved.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Goals of Downtown Livability 2.0
  • Changes to Downtown since 2017
  • Areas where the existing code is not working as intended
  • Areas of the code which will not change, including maximum building height
  • Reinforcing established policy priorities, including open space, pedestrian activity and vitality
  • Support for historic development patterns along Main Street in Old Bellevue
  • Updates to the amenity incentive system to encourage small business and ensure the incentives are working as intended
  • Continued encouragement of housing in the heart of the city
  • How the LUCA supports the Grand Connection vision

Staff will walk through the draft concepts, answer questions and share ways to participate as work continues.

There will be two opportunities to participate - one in-person and one virutal.
