A little bit more about RiseUP:
Founded in 2012, RiseUP began with a mission to empower youth to be the catalyst that uplifts and inspires their community. Through this mission we have helped to transform communities through the power of public art. Starting as a grassroots initiative, RiseUP has evolved into Connecticut’s premier public art nonprofit, completing over 300 placemaking, public art , and murals installations across the state. Our projects range from large-scale murals to interactive art experiences, engaging thousands of local residents, youth, and artists to create works that reflect the unique character and culture of each community.
Through collaborations with schools, businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits, RiseUP uses art as a tool for social change, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in public spaces. Our efforts, including the MLK39 Racial Equity Mural Tour, have sparked dialogue around important societal issues while beautifying neighborhoods and instilling community pride.
At RiseUP, we believe that public art isn’t just decoration—it’s a powerful medium for storytelling, unity, and transformation.
