Downtown Denver Public Art and Skynets Over Downtown Walking Tour
About this Event
About This Tour
Join Denver Public Art for a leisurely walking tour of downtown Denver’s distinctive public artworks. Why do the sidewalks sing? Why is the Big Blue Bear blue? Discover the stories behind these works and more. The tour also offers a behind-the-scenes look at , a temporary aerial artwork series by internationally acclaimed artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. Look up and see how the installation’s movement and color interact with natural patterns, the wind, and the sounds of the city. Shearn will share his inspiration and creative process, while City project team members will discuss the engineering and collaboration that brought this large-scale kinetic artwork to downtown streets and public spaces. The tour begins at 10:00 AM and lasts about 1.5 hours. Please meet at “Quaking Gold” (pictured above) near 16th Street and Glenarm Plaza, outside the Paramount Theatre (1621 Glenarm Place).
This tour is free to attend, but registration is required. If you cannot attend after registering, please cancel your order to release your ticket so that another art lover may take your spot. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tours are rain or shine, however, should conditions become dangerous because of severe weather, Denver Public Art reserves the right to cancel or delay/pause the tour.
