TyWanza Sanders , a man with a philanthropic spirit and a commitment to the achievement of youth in his community and beyond, was the youngest victim of the 2015 Mother Emanuel Church Massacre. To honor his life and continue his legacy, Race 4 Achievement Inc . (R4A) created this family friendly community run/walk to provide funds for R4A's TyWanza Sanders Scholarship Fund and other philanthropic outreach programs. Proceeds from this event have allowed R4A to award $16,500 worth of scholarships since the event's inception to minority high school graduates in the Charleston area. The TyWanza Sanders Scholarship Fund includes The TyWanza Sanders Scholarship at James Island Charter High , West Ashley High, and Burke High School awarding $1,000 scholarships at each school to a minority graduating senior, The Dan Stern Citadel Scholarship awarding a minority Charleston area graduate attending The Citadel with $500, and the Malik Samir Werts Scholarship awarding a minority graduating senior from the Charleston County School of the Arts with $500.

Join the community for the 8th Annual Doughnut Dash in honor of TyWanza Sanders! This community supported, family friendly run/walk is held each year in honor of the life and legacy of TyWanza Sanders and is put on by Race 4 Achievement Inc. The run/walk is a fundraiser to continue our mission of strengthening the community and supporting diversity in the Charleston #commUNITY. All funds raised will be donated to the TyWanza Sanders Scholarship Fund; providing college scholarships for students in Charleston County Schools. Due to COVID-19 we've incorporated a registration where you can participate from the comfort of your neighborhood or favorite trail, "Race From Home".

The Race
Competing individuals/teams will run/walk from South Windermere Shopping Center down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts where they MUST eat a dozen doughnuts before heading back to the finish line - IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON EATING ALL 12 DOUGHNUTS DO NOT REGISTER AS A COMPETITOR. (Max of 6ppl per team)

Competing Kids will run/walk from South Windermere Shopping Center down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts where they MUST eat a 2 doughnuts before heading back to the finish line - IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON EATING 2 DOUGHNUTS DO NOT REGISTER AS A COMPETITOR.

Non-competing individuals will be able to consume as many doughnuts as they want on a "one doughnut at a time basis."

*Please note that you may use the restroom facilities at It's A Cool School (starting point) and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (midway point).

Race From Home can be done anytime after you receive your registration materials and swag bag. A flat rate shipping fee of $10 for your entire registration. YOU MUST ADD the "Flat Rate Shipping Fee for Virtual Registration" when you register in order to have your items shipped.

Sponsor a Meeting Street Elementary Student *ON EVENTBRITE PAGE ONLY*
Aren't able to participate but still wish to support this event? Donate as much as you want to sponsor students from Meeting Street Elementary to participate in the race. All sponsored students are required to be registered with a parent/adult, so your donation will multiply and raise more scholarship funds.

Frequently Asked Questions
• Can I register after March 20th?
Yes, you can register after the Guaranteed T-Shirt Deadline (3/20/23). You can also register the day of the race using credit/debit card, Cash App, Venmo or Paypal. NO CASH TRANSACTIONS!
• If I register after March 20th will I still get a swag bag & T-Shirt?
Solely depends on inventory. We only order T-Shirts based on total registrations at the deadline. If we purchase too many t-shirts = less scholarships funds and less good works for the community. We will have a limited amount of Shirts/Medals for sale.
• What’s the difference between Competing & Non-Competing registration?
Competing individuals/teams will run/walk from South Windermere Shopping Center down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Charleston SC where they MUST eat a dozen doughnuts and run/walk back; competing kids must eat 2 doughnuts. IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON EATING ALL REQUIRED DOUGHNUT COUNTS DO NOT REGISTER AS A COMPETITOR
Non-competing individuals will be able to consume as many doughnuts as they want on a "one doughnut at a time basis."
• What time should I arrive?
Registration starts at 7:30am with Can't Stop Training’s “morning stretch” beginning at 8:30am. We plan to commence the race at 9am.
• Where do the proceeds from the race go?
100% back into the #Race4Wanza Fund! After all expenses of the event have been settled, the remaining fund allows us to award $4,000 in scholarships and start preparing for the next year.
• Where should I park?
The race begins in the rear parking lot of the South Windermere Shopping Center

• Are there bathrooms at the start of the race?
Yes, the restroom facilities our participants can use are at the race starting location, at It's A Cool School, and at the midway point, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO USE 3 LITTLE BIRDS FACILTIES! They are not supporters of the race and we do not want to hinder their business.
• How many people can I have on a team?
Competition Teams can have a minimum of 2 members with a max of 6 team members.
• What’s included with registration?
#Race4Wanza Doughnut Dash T-Shirt, race medal, race number, and swag bag.
• What is the race path?
We start in the rear parking lot, run/walk through the South Windermere Neighborhood until we reach the West Ashley Greenway, continue down the trail until we arrive at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We then enjoy doughnuts and return the same way to the finish line.
• Are children and strollers allowed?
Yes, this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event! We even have a jumping castle.
• Are pets allowed?
Yes, if they are on a leash.
