Where:
Google Plus Code: 2QGV+852 Johns Creek, Georgia
The starting point will be off of Twingate Drive where the Johns Creek runs under the road.

When:
Saturday, September 26th, 2026
9 AM – 12 PM

What to wear:
Water shoes, boots, or waders

All homeowners and their neighbors are encouraged to join us or even look at streams/tributaries closer to their homes to help. Debris and litter collected will be sorted/bagged/weighed at the Groomsbridge parking lot for pickup the afternoon of the event, where the city will properly dispose of the waste.

More information:

  • We will focus on the section of Johns Creek that runs through the northwestern part of the DoubleGate neighborhood.
  • Please park along Mt. Oglethorpe, Mt. Katadhin, Laithbank, or other side streets and walk to the Twingate Drive meeting point. Please DO NOT park on Twingate Drive; this will be our entry point into the creek and needs to remain clear.
  • Bring water shoes (if you’re getting in the water), hat, water bottle(reusable), sunscreen, and bug repellent as you may need
  • Supplies already there include water to refill your water bottle, a first aid kit, a cell phone (to take pictures and for a 911 call if needed), trash bags, gloves, and “grabbers”.
  • We’ll do introductions and a brief overview of the importance of keeping our watershed clean
  • Then we’ll team up for safety and walk approximately ½ of a mile to the northwest end of the creek and clean up as we walk toward the Pool and Tennis courts. We will be exiting the creek onto private property, with the permission of the property owner.
  • If you want to stay dry, let us know when you check in. You can help by pulling the invasive privet and/or taking heavy/full trash bags from those in the stream at key points, and providing replacement bags as needed.

Stormwater Credit:
Participating Johns Creek residents can use a 10% Stormwater credit to apply toward the Stormwater Fee next year. See the link below for more details. Examples of qualifying events include stream cleanups hosted by Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, Chattahoochee Riverkeepers, Keep North Fulton Beautiful, Rivers Alive, or other events that are in accordance with Adopt-A-Stream or Adopt-A-Road guidelines.
