ABOUT THE SHOWS:
Based on Hilary Mantel’s Booker Prize-winning novels, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light is the TV sequel to Wolf Hall, the 2016 Peabody Award and Golden Globe winner. It tells the spellbinding story of royal “fixer” Thomas Cromwell (Mark Rylance) during the brutally capricious reign of Henry VIII (Damian Lewis). The first installment focused on Cromwell’s rise to power in the king’s court and his role in the downfall of Henry’s second wife, Anne Boleyn (Claire Foy). The new TV sequel picks up after Boleyn’s beheading and follows the last four years of Crowell’s life, completing his journey from self-made man to the most feared and influential figure of his time.
Season 1 of Marie Antoinette kicks off with her arrival to Versailles. Far from home and only a mere teenager, her transition to the French way of life is met with many bumps, most notably her struggle to connect with her spouse and soon-to-be king, Louis XVI.In season 2, bigger and stronger enemies are waiting in the wings to destroy Marie Antionette. The higher she climbs in the estimation of the French people, the greater the threats are against her. At the height of their power, Marie Antoinette and Louis face an unprecedented financial crisis. The incessant attacks of Provence and Chartres against the royal couple stir up the hatred of the nobles while disastrous consequences loom with the Diamond Necklace Affair. From Versailles to the Palais-Royal, the revolt rumbles on.
