Wielding a cello, powerhouse vocals, and magnetic onstage energy, multi-award-winning songwriter Monique Clare teams up with Dots+Loops Performance Fellows for a set sharing her deeply personal storytelling and arresting authenticity that has elicited cathartic tears and laughter from audiences around the world.
Grammy-Award-winning flautist Tim Munro breathes life into bewildering multimedia works composed especially from him, each meditating on the transitory and transformative, from new works by Dots+Loops Composition Fellows Artemis Bishop and Skylar Sansome, to the Australian Premiere of Chris Cerrone’s "Liminal Highway".
Arrernte-Afro-Jamaican multidisciplinary artist SOLCHLD teams up with contemporary jazz project Callum Pask Trio to present their album "Scarred and Sacred". Blending poetry and jazz, they invite you into a space of reflection and feeling; it’s music for dim lights, deep breaths, and undivided attention, something to apply to your wounds, pour into your morning coffee, and let carry you softly into dreaming.
Dots+Loops Performance Fellows return to the stage alongside Matt Hsu’s Obscure Orchestra, the musical project of multi-instrumentalist Matt Hsu, an anti-racist orchestral punk crafting multi-textured alchemy weaving together the warmth of bedroom pop, hip-hop’s conscious punch, and the wild spark of experimental music into a daringly original whole.
London-based Australian mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean brings the night to its climax with "Voice Electric", a program exploring the vivid colours of the amplified human voice as it oscillates between states of being. From the groundbreaking work of 20th Century composer Giacinto Scelsi, to works written especially for Lotte by Erin Gee, Mathis Saunier, and Dots+Loops’ Co-Director Connor D’Netto, discover ambience and stillness, light and dark, wild and calm.
Throughout the night, our friends from Made Now Music take over the Underground Foyer with a selection of artists to keep the party humming along.
In between it all, grab a bite to eat or just relax and catch up with your fellow festival-goers. There’s something for all adventurous ears and eyes at NONSTOP.
