About this Event

Join us on Thursday 30th March, 17:00 - 19:00 for the launch and private view of our new exhibition 'Around The World In Black & White'.

An exhibition featuring Daniel Meakin, Clare Wrench, Steve Bayley, Susan Brown and John Petch.

This exhibition from dot-art Artist Members transports us ‘Around the World in Black & White’, stopping off in Spain, Greece, France and many more iconic destinations. Taken from their travels, the artists in this exhibition share with us some of the delights our world has to offer, from civilisations gone before to buzzing cities.

This group show combines the geometric style of John Petch, the graphic nature of Susan Brown’s lino prints and the loose pen and ink sketches from Steve Bayley. All coming together under the theme of global landmarks and making a monochrome statement.

Clare Wrench – “The paintings were inspired by a city break in Rome several year's ago when I visited several locations from the film Roman Holiday. The black and white theme of this exhibition brought back memories of my trip, looking nostalgically through my photo album. I imagined I was on holiday like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.”

Daniel Meakin – “Over the last several years I have been executing paintings influenced by the rich urban tapestry and diverse architectural history of cities such as Paris, Venice, and Barcelona, my home city of 20 years. My working process consists of compiling visual studies such as sketches, photos, etc, then prompting the layering of collage.”

Susan Brown - “Black and white linocut prints are a powerful way to capture the essence of a city, highlighting it's architectural character, energy and mood. My work focuses on the use of negative space and the bold lines of skyscrapers and ancient temples.”

Steve Bayley – “Pen and ink is one of my favourite mediums. I enjoy the control when using pens and markers and always think the bold black and white pictures can be quite striking. My picture of Corsica is inspired by artist John Minton and the picture is in his style. It’s a style I’ve often taken inspiration from when drawing in black and white.”

John Petch – “An interesting and challenging addition to my art portfolio. I am familiar with painting the interaction of space and shape using colour but have relished the opportunity and artistic challenge of using solely black and white. I have selected four iconic buildings; Empire State Building, Golden Gate Bridge, The Eiffel Tower and St. Paul’s Cathedral.”

All artworks are for sale.

Exhibition continues Friday 31st March - Saturday 20th May.

VISIT: Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 - 18:00
