About this Event
Spend the day with us! Come early starting at 11:30 or stay later to join us at our Double Take Thrift Store and Pop-Up Market for a day of community, creativity, and connection ♻️✨
Don’t toss it - mend it!
That buttonless shirt? The tiny hole in your favourite sweater? Bring it with you!
Join us for a fun, beginner-friendly repair workshop where we’ll learn simple mending techniques, stitch together in community, and debunk the biggest myths around repair. Come as you are, bring something you love, and leave with new skills (and clothes ready for a second life).
Hosted by Dr. Marium Durrani:
Dr. Marium Durrani is a Toronto-based anthropologist, educator, writer, and circular fashion advocate. Her work explores repair, garment longevity, and the sociology of fashion — with a focus on community well-being and more meaningful relationships with clothing. With a Ph.D. from Aalto University in Finland, where she researched repair as a pathway to resilience, her approach blends deep academic insight with real-world impact.
Beyond academia, Marium works as an independent circular fashion stylist and consultant, helping individuals and communities move toward more sustainable practices. Follow her work @therack_md to learn how she is redefining how we think about the clothes we wear.
