Clerel & Friends: A Donny Hathaway Tribute
Too few people ever got to hear Donny Hathaway live.
His musical works are standard bearers of musicianship, soulfulness, and truth — pillars of the American soul tradition that have moved and shaped generations the world over.
Yet his repertoire remains among the least commonly performed live, despite the fact that much of it was meant to be experienced in a room, with people, as evidenced by the enduring success of his live recordings.
For one night, six Montreal musicians bring that music back where it belongs: into a space, into a moment, into your hands. This is for anyone who knows what Donny's music means. Come be part of a communal offering. Gather within the music, and what it stirs in you.

Trop peu de gens ont entendu Donny Hathaway en concert.
Ses chansons sont des repères : musicalité, chaleur, vérité. Une soul profondément américaine, mais qui a voyagé partout — de bouche à oreille, de salon en salon, de génération en génération.
Pourtant, son répertoire se fait rare sur scène, alors que l'essentiel de sa musique a toujours été faite pour être vécue au plus près, dans une salle, entre des gens; le succès durable de ses enregistrements live le confirme.
Le 6 juin, six musiciens montréalais ramènent cette musique là où elle respire le mieux : dans une pièce, dans un moment, entre nous. Il y a quelque chose dans la musique de Donny qui nous rappelle doucement qui on est. Rapprochez-vous, et vivons-la ensemble.
