Join Mykel Brotzman for a donation based restorative Yoga class! All donations will go directly towards Upward Inertia. Upward Inertia is a Boise based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the mental, physical, and social-emotional health and wellbeing of marginalized communities through the use of mind-body based education and yoga therapy. Upward Inertia's programming is designed around principles of self-empowerment, self-efficacy, and personal growth. We provide our students with the tools needed to manage their emotions, navigate stress and trauma, build a sense of self-reliance, self-worth, and resiliency, to increase their awareness and intentionality in action and speech, and to improve their mind-body connection, their mobility and physical strength. Our curriculum uses a combination of introspective discussion, mindfulness practices, breathwork, meditation, and movement.
Currently Upward Inertia's classes are focused in the carceral system, offering 9 classes across 5 prison facilities weekly. Within the next year, Upward Inertia aims to increase their community offerings by providing classes for teens and youth, and those in the community managing addiction, eating disorders, and mental illness.
