Mark your calendars! 🎬The City of Morgantown in partnership with Morgantown Magazine would like to announce the centennial celebration honoring Morgantown native Don Knotts and a hundred years of entertainment at the historic Metropolitan Theatre. The celebration will take place at the Metropolitan Theatre and will feature a variety of events spanning from July 20-24.
Grab your popcorn and join us for a hilarious marathon of films featuring the legendary Don Knotts, where laughter is the star of the show. We’ll also have special guest speakers and performances, including award-winning author of "Andy and Me" and Don Knotts’ brother-in-law Daniel deVise; entertainer and Don Knotts’ nephew Bill Knotts; and award-winning illusionist Josh Knotts of Extreme Illusions & Escapes.

All movie shows will cost $1.00 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door of the Metropolitan Theatre.
On Saturday, July 20 at 7 p.m. Daniel de Visé, award-winning writer and journalist will discuss his book Andy & Don, focusing on the illustrious career of Don Knotts, followed by a Q & A session. Tickets will cost $10.00 for this event and are available online.
On Monday, July 22 at 7 p.m. former professional actor, Bill Knotts will be telling the story of “Mayberry Memories”. His program is filled with family anecdotes and stories about Knotts family history, Don’s early career and how he landed the part of Barney Fife, as well as his movie career with Universal and his time on The Andy Griffith Show. Tickets will cost $10.00 for this event and are available online.
To close out the scheduled programming, on Tuesday July 23 at 7 p.m. Extreme Illusions & Escapes, led by Josh Knotts, will be performing a family friendly Las Vegas-style illusion show consisting of large scale, modern illusions and edge-of-your-seat, dangerous escapes mixed with audience participation. Tickets will cost $15.00 for this event and are available online.
