VCU's Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra studies the vast repertoire of large-ensemble music from Cuban, Puerto Rican, and American artists including Mario Bauza, Dizzy Gillespie, Chico O’Farrill, and Eddie Palmieri.
The musicians are students in the VCUarts Department of Music, and the orchestra is directed by Dr. Dimitrije Vasiljević.
Dominion Energy Jazz Café hosts free, in-person performances by some of the area’s best jazz musicians at VMFA every Wednesday in partnership with the Richmond Jazz Society.
