About this Event
Doll Parts 1970: A Dolly Parton Experience
Brooklyn’s premier Dolly Parton cover band is reliving Dolly’s grooviest year, and you’ll want to be there with bell-bottoms on! Doll Parts 1970 is a can’t-miss, live-music event, celebrating fifty years of Dolly, by taking a deep dive into a pivotal trip around the sun for the country queen. Hits and hidden gems abound from 1970, a year in which Dolly released five albums, including two with singing partner Porter Wagoner. (It would be another few years before she released “I Will Always Love You” (1974) and “9 to 5!” (1980), but rest assured, these beloved faves and more will be on the setlist too!)
Porter always told Dolly that she would never get on the radio with "story songs," referring to the heartbreaking genius of ballads like “Dover” and “Coat of Many Colors.” But she proved him dead wrong when she went on to become one of the greatest songwriter storytellers of all time. Doll Parts 1970 breathes new life into some of Dolly’s earliest and most heartfelt songs with honest-to-the-core titles like “I Know You’re Married but I Love You Still” and “I’m Wasting Your Time and You’re Wasting Mine.”
Cornerstone rhinestoned bandmates Shane Chapman (vocals and guitar), Julia Sirna-Frest (vocals and ukulele), and Maggie Katz (vocals and keys) will be joined by some very special guest performers for Doll Parts 1970, including Brett Parnell on pedal steel guitar and Maya Sharpe on fiddle. All the foot-stompin' fun happens Friday, December 3, at the Cutting Room club and lounge.
