About this Event
Learn the story behind the Isle of Dogs; discover what you can't take on the Docklands Light Railway; walk by London's oldest canal; guess the country's most perishable import; discover surprising secrets of the Thames; the Capital's oldest police force and what a 'whopper' means (you'll never go to Burger King again!).
We stop for lunch at Captain Kidd in Wapping. After that we carry on upstream to finish at Tower Bridge. Lunch is around 1 o'clock. We expect to finish by 4 o'clock.
Please note that this is a long walk: just over 2 miles in the morning then another mile in the afternoon.
There are no refreshment stops except for the Captain Kidd and no public toilets though cafes might oblige.
Walk starts outside the Docklands Museum.
I try to make my walks as inclusive and accessible as possible but sometimes architecture and geography are against us. This walk does involve rough ground and also some stairs and steps with no lift available.
FOOTWARE - this walk does go on uneven grassy areas and unmade paths which can be bit muddy after rain, please be shod accordingly.
