“Doc Talk” is a limited presentation series on documentary filmmaking hosted by KHOI Community Radio in collaboration with the Ames Regional Economic Alliance and the Ames Documentary Film Festival.
Join us on Wednesday, June 17, for a presentation from Eric Smidt who will talk about the craft of documentary filmmaking and share clips of his work.
Eric Smidt is a communications professional and documentary filmmaker from Ames, Iowa with credits that include To Memphis and Back (2022), Light Painter (2024), and Urban Mining (2026). He is also the festival director of the Ames Documentary Film Festival, currently in its first year.
Each presentation is free and open to the public and will take place from 7:00–8:30 p.m., with time allocated for Q&A.
The series is supported in part through local option tax funds provided by the City of Ames through the Commission on the Arts.
