Design Midlands: City Talks is a new programme of conversations bringing together leading developers, planners and designers to explore how we shape better places — from conservation areas to major regeneration sites.
Hosted at EH Smith Design Centre in Digbeth, each session dives into a major theme facing the sector today.
Do Conservation Areas stifle development?
Ralph Minott from Calthorpe Estates will share his experience managing development in a conservation area in Birmingham. Ralph is retiring after 18 years as Masterplanning and Development Director.
Rachel Fletcher, Senior Heritage Consultant at Donald Insall Associates, and Sophie Drury of Carney Sweeney Planning Consultants, will also take part. Sophie will chair the event.

Perspectives On Regenerative Design Key voices in regenerative design will discuss their work and how we can shift our thinking on place making to meet the needs of modern cities in a time of climate emergency.
