DMU Medicine & Health Sciences Campus Tour & LEED Celebration - USGBC Iowa

Join us for an exclusive tour of the new Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences Campus, located on 88 acres in West Des Moines. This state-of-the-art facility is the cornerstone of an evolving educational and healthcare landscape. The campus envisioned and executed by RDG Planning & Design, serves as a testament to DMU's commitment to providing advanced medical education and clinical services.

During this event, we'll celebrate the campus's LEED Silver certification with a special plaque presentation, followed by an overview of the project's vision and its significant impact on both education and community health. You'll also get a chance to explore the campus through a guided tour led by DMU staff and members of the design team, who will share insights into the innovative energy efficiency and sustainability strategies that shaped this groundbreaking project.

• Learn about the design and construction process that enabled the University to create a smaller, yet more efficient and sustainable campus.
• Discover the unique energy efficiency strategies, including daylighting, passive shading, energy-efficient lighting, and a closed-loop geothermal heating and cooling system.
• Understand how the Commercial New Construction (CNC) program, supported by Willdan, played a pivotal role in achieving the campus’s energy and sustainability goals through modeling, benchmarking, and rebate financing.

Dinner: Following the tour, participants are invited to join co-sponsors ASHRAE Iowa and MidAmerican Energy at Smash Park (6625 Coachlight Dr, West Des Moines, IA 50266) for a dinner event. Note: a separate ticket is required.
