Storms of Life," a program of works by Schubert, Chopin, Scriabin, and Ravel
About this Event

Ukrainian-born pianist Dmitri Levkovich and his wife, Lithuanian- born pianist Agnė Radzevičiutė are based in Toronto. Both prize winners of top international piano competitions, we are pleased to welcome them for their Wentworth Villa debut recital in an exciting program named after Schubert's 4-hand work "Storms of Life". It will include works by Schubert, Chopin, Scriabin, Ravel and others, switching between piano solos and 4 hand duets.

Program TBA

Ukranian-born Canadian pianist and composer Dmitri Levkovich’s performances were praised for "artistic sophistication far above the ordinary" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) and "understanding of the music far beyond most young pianists” (American Record Guide). His original compositions were reviewed in the Philadelphia’s Broad Street Review - “…the musicians could jump right into the heartfelt melodies and big emotional surges of Levkovich’s slow movement.”

Recent performance highlights include Grieg Concerto with Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, Liszt First Piano Concerto at the Great Hall of Berlin Philharmonie, a debut at the Ravinia Festival and 2nd International Mariinsky Far East Festival . Dmitri was featured in ARTE TV's "Stars of tomorrow" and "Living the Classical Life" interview series. His debut recording of Rachmaninoff’s 24 Preludes was met with worldwide critical acclaim and earned a nomination for the 2016 International Classical Music Award.

He has performed over 30 different piano concertos, with orchestras that include the Cleveland Orchestra, China National , Dresden Philharmonic, Gulbenkian, Frankfurt HR Radio, Mariinsky, Slovak Philharmonic, and Utah Symphony Orchestra under conductors Valery Gergiev, Jahja Ling, George Pehlivanian, Vladimir Spivakov, Markus Stenz, and Sebastian Weigle. He has performed at Great Halls of the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts, Berlin Philharmonie, Gulbenkian Foundation, Moscow Conservatory, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Warsaw Philharmonie, as well as Mariinsky Theater’s Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall.

Dmitri honed his skills on the piano under the guidance of Sergei Babayan for 11 years and in composition at the Curtis Institute of Music. He is the winner of more than 20 international piano competitions, including the China, Cleveland, German Piano Award, Gina Bachauer, Jose Iturbi and the Vendôme Prize. Dmitri has earned numerous ‘audience favorite’ awards and special prizes, notably for best performance of Chopin’s works.

In the fall of 2021, Dmitri toured Switzerland with Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto, performing at Basel and Bern Philharmonic Halls. The same season, he performed Rachmaninoff’s Second Concerto with Baden-Baden Symphony Orchestra at the Frankfurt’s Alte Oper. Since recently, Dmitri is getting recognition as a composer. The Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra has performed his "Fantasie" for piano and orchestra, and his Piano Trio was performed at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland.

Lithuanian- born pianist Agnė Radzevičiutė has been praised by the press for her “sincere and meaningful” interpretations and “exquisite musical sensitivity and conviction” (Seven Days of Art). Her concerts in Paris and Vilnius were featured live on Mezzo TV, Europe’s classical music channel, and her performance credits include a recital at the United Nations Concert Hall in Geneva. Agnė performed Chopin Concerto in E minor at the prestigious Koerner Hall in Toronto in the Finals of the Fifth Canadian Chopin Piano Competition.

Agnė
Radzevičiutė's first international stage appearance was at the age of 10 on a tour in Switzerland. She has performed Chopin and Mozart concerti with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Kaunas Symphonic and St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra (Lithuania). She received distinctions from the President of Lithuania as well as the Ministry of Education for her “active performance career and representing Lithuania on the international stage”. In 2018, she made her United States orchestra debut with Chagrin Valley Studio Orchestra under the baton of Steve Eva. In April 2023, Agnė debuted with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra in a performance which was streamed live on the Lithuanian National Television.

Agnė has won prizes in a dozen international piano competitions, including the First Prize at the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition for Young Pianists, held in Poland, Second Prize at the Kosciuszko Chopin Piano Competition in New York City and Third prize at the Canadian Chopin Competition in Toronto. In 2013, she was awarded Prix de Piano at the Fontainebleau Festival in France.

Agne is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music in New York City (studio of Andre-Michel Schub) and Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School in Toronto (studio of David Louie and John Perry). Apart from
her solo career, Agnė enjoys playing in a piano duet with her husband, pianist Dmitri Levkovich. The duet has toured extensively in Canada (“Under the Spire” Festival in Prince Edward Island, Algoma Conservatory in Sault Ste. Marie, and Georgian Music Festival in Barrie) as well as internationally (Palermo Classica Festival in Italy, Kaunas and Klaipeda Philharmonic Halls in Lithuania).
