THE EVENT
Din l-Art Helwa is thrilled to host an exhibition by Marjolein Jaspers-Caous (known as ‘Lein’) at its shop on the corner of Old Bakery Street and Melita Street, Valletta (entrance from both streets).
She will have several paintings on exhibition, all of which are for sale, with a donation from each going to Din l-Art Helwa.
The chosen name for the exhibition suits the style of painting of the artist by letting loose and mostly not even having a plan through which she finds true space to create at heart. The title also introduces her work as an 'art coach', where art is being used as a method to open new paths, to empower teams or to just have fun. As an art coach she tries to encourage others to be creative to see what comes from there.
Chat-gpt says: ‘creativity & courage are two essential qualities that often work hand in hand, driving innovation, personal growth, and societal change. In essence, creativity gives life to new ideas, while courage gives those ideas the strength to thrive and make an impact. Both qualities are vital in achieving innovation, growth, and transformation in any field.’
The artist will be on site and the paintings will also be there during the Public Holiday, when the NGO will once again be open to explain what it does and to sell its own publications at greatly discounted prices.

MEET THE ARTIST
Lein is a teacher and educator with global experience (Netherlands, Dutch Caribbean (Curacao) and nowadays Malta), and a successful career in learning & development and business process management.
Lein nowadays combines her expertise and experience with her creativity through facilitating workshops, corporate team building, teaching, (online) (blended) training, e-learning design and last but not least art, crafts & souvenirs.
She has been creative her entire life and started creating art & crafts around the year 2000. It helped her to let go of her perfectionism in her daily work and to embrace her creativity.
Painting is her passion. She finds inspiration in (wild) flowers, a flower bouquet on a table, nature, people all around her and her imagination. She likes working with a variety of colours combined with collage.
Although she took many courses and learned different techniques, one could say she is an autodidact. The most important ‘lesson learned’ from one of her instructors is to stick to her creative mind! She often did not follow the instructions and ended up with something very different from the initial assignment. She couldn’t help it, it just happened. So, now you know she does not strive for perfection in her creations; She does not want to and she can’t. She is only an autodidact who’s lucky to have a super creative mind. She paints what she feels at heart. She is not inspired by reality, but rather by image. ‘Art only begins, where imitation ends’ (Oscar Wilde).
She was raised in a little village in The Netherlands (Norg), surrounded by nature and space, and she was educated via ‘Jenaplan’ schooling. This made her into who she is today and she is very grateful for that: ‘This ‘anthroposophical’ way of life during my childhood has definitely contributed to the self-development of my creative, imaginative mind’.
As mentioned, she finds inspiration in flowers, humans and nature around her. During the exhibition you will find out why.
