Harrell’s Alligator Records debut, Talkin’ Heavy, showcases his electrifying guitar playing and church-born voice across twelve original tracks that blend traditional blues roots with fresh, modern energy. Produced by Christoffer “Kid” Andersen at the legendary Greaseland Studio, the album cements Harrell as one of the leading voices of the new generation of blues artists.
Born in Ruston, Louisiana, Harrell was inspired by blues legends like B.B. King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, and Freddie King. He began playing guitar at 12 and writing songs by 16, eventually earning the B.B. King of the Blues Award for Preserving Traditional Blues Heritage and the Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist.
With acclaimed releases, international touring across the U.S. and Europe, and a reputation for unforgettable high-energy live performances, D.K. Harrell is widely regarded as one of the fastest-rising talents in modern blues.
