John Jorgenson is a Grammy Award-winning guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist − proficient on the mandolin, mandocello, Dobro, pedal steel, piano, upright bass, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone. Since discovering Django Reinhardt in 1979, Jorgenson has become “the U.S. Ambassador of Gypsy Jazz,” which is quite an honor, given the distinctly European slant of the music’s heritage. Over the years, Jorgenson has continued to honor the legacy of Reinhardt by bringing his unique brand of gypsy jazz to the masses with his John Jorgenson Quintet.
The Hot Club of San Francisco has been delighting audiences for 35 years. Leader Paul Mehling (guitar, violin, bass, vocals) is joined by Evan Price (violin, melodica, guitar), Jordan Samuels (rhythm guitar), Nelsen Hutchison (rhythm guitar) and Dexter Williams (string bass) to bring their love of gypsy jazz with swing to the stage.
Local Django-style jazz band and festival alumni, Mundo Juillerat's The Hot Club of Las Vegas, will perform, joined on stage by musical virtuoso and five-time “Headliner of the Year” Frankie Moreno. The band, which started as a passion project, performs Django jazz music past and present, as well as boleros, flamenco, rhumbas and more.
