🇬🇧 DJALOGI is a series of encounters with various writers, some emerging and others more established. The aim of this series is for Inizjamed together with Spazju Kreattiv to give due weight to the written word, which at times is not afforded the attention it deserves.The third dialogue will be held on the 26th of May at 7pm at Spazju B, within Spazju Kreattiv. Leanne Ellul will be interviewing Priscilla Cassar.
Priscilla Cassar is divided between the world of science and that of art. Professionally she is a Speech Language Pathologist, Gerontologist, and Cultural Geragogist. Over the years, from 2015 onwards, she has led biographical and creative writing workshops specifically with elderly participants. She is passionate about the spread of literature in various settings within the health sector and has also taken part in artistic projects in the same field. Her poems, prose, and translations have been published in various local and international anthologies, including in Modern Poetry in Translation (2023). In 2020 she was one of the runners-up in the adult category (unpublished) in the Trócaire Poetry Ireland Poetry Competition. As an activist, she is deeply committed to the Palestinian cause and insists there is no room for hypocrisy or double standards when it comes to human rights and international law.
Leanne Ellul was born in the year The Cure released "Lovesong". She teaches Maltese and guides students in their first steps along the path of writing. She writes both poetry and prose and sometimes finds no clear boundary between the two. She writes theatre and textbooks and other books for children. Ellul has also translated a number of works into Maltese. Her first poetry collection is titled L-Inventarju tal-Kamra l-Kaħla. Her second poetry collection forms part of the interdisciplinary project Bjuda. Her latest collection is a manifesto-booklet about trees. A few months ago she released her second young adult novel, be;n il-kmiem, and is still happily over the moon about it. Ellul is an active member of entities that have the Maltese language and culture at their core, including Inizjamed and HELA Foundation. For her, poetry is a way of life and language is a game. She doesn't eat animals (except fish), loves brisk walking, considers coffee a form of religion, cooks with whatever is just about to expire … and loves her dog Kepler to bits.

Fl-2020 kienet waħda mir-‘runners-up’ fil-kategorija adulti (li ma ppublikawx) fit-Trócaire Poetry Ireland Poetry Competition. Bħala attivista għandha għal qalba ħafna il-kawża Palestinjana u tisħaq li mhemmx lok għall-ipokriżija jew double standards fejn jidħlu drittijiet tal-bniedem u liġi internazzjonali.

L-ewwel kollezzjoni ta’ poeżiji tagħha jisimha L-Inventarju tal-Kamra l-Kaħla. It-tieni kollezzjoni ta' poeżiji tagħha tifforma parti mill-proġett interdixxiplinarju bl-isem Bjuda. L-aħħar kollezzjoni hija ktejjeb-manifest dwar is-siġar. Ftit tax-xhur ilu ħarġet it-tieni rumanz għaż-żgħażagħ, be;n il-kmiem u għadha kuntenta se ttir. Ellul tifforma attiva f'entitajiet li għandhom il-lingwa u l-kultura Maltija fil-qalba tagħhom, fosthom Inizjamed u Fondazzjoni HELA. Għaliha l-poeżija stil ta' ħajja u l-lingwa logħba. Ma tikolx annimali (ħlief ħut), tħobb timxi qatigħ, tqis il-kafè bħala forma ta' reliġjon, issajjar b'dak kollu li jkun kważi se jiskadi … u tħobb il-kelb tagħha Kepler tgħidx kemm.
