PLATILLO is an energetic duo project by DJ RAQX and Colum Enrique, two New York City born-and-raised Latinx artists, focused on adding organic live instrumentals to traditional DJ sets. The duo’s sound reflects both musicians’ love for Afro-Latin, soul, and house genres, blended seamlessly over a bedrock of live drums and hand percussion. PLATILLO sets are meant to provide live entertainment and fresh improvisation for those who love to dance.

About the artists:

DJ RAQX Is a DJ, event producer and educator from New York with Puerto Rican and German roots. Her music selection is heavily influenced by her hybrid cultures playing vinyl + digital sets exploring 90s NY house, latin deep cuts, with new club and reggaeton sounds.

She’s been DJing and producing events in Brooklyn with @misschiefcollective for 5+ years as well as playing international shows in Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico. You can find RAQX DJing at venues such as Nowadays, Basement, Elsewhere, Mood Ring, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and Good Room. She also teaches DJ classes at Superior Elevation records.

Colum Enrique is a Cuban-American drummer and bandleader born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He draws on his cultural roots and blends percussion styles from a variety of genres, including funk, jazz, and neo-soul. He is the co-leader of FORAGER, a Brooklyn-based r&b trio that has packed beloved NYC venues like Baby’s All Right, Knitting Factory BK, and Elsewhere. His music was recently featured on NPR Music’s Top Shelf web series for a second consecutive year as a top entry to NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest.
