DJ Kevlar (aka Kevin Polowy) returns to his hometown to celebrate the release of his upcoming debut album "Transitions & Transformations" at Electric City. He'll do it over a truly special night hosted by Sam Sellers and featuring incredible lineup of special guests, including Brooklyn's ScienZe and Buffalo's own Kota Savia, Twistello, Supa Kaliente & ToneyBoi, plus a very special dance performance from Selma Body.

A love child of classic hip-hop and neo-soul, Transitions and Transformations (releasing Aug. 7 on Broken Complex Records) marks the official full-length debut album of Buffalo-born, Brooklyn-refined, LA-based DJ/producer/remixer DJ Kevlar, né Kevin Polowy.
It also costars one helluva supporting cast, with features from Open Mike Eagle, Ché Noir, Abstract Rude, Eligh, Von Pea, ScienZe, sahn, C-Red, JazzZ, Wavy Bagels, Sam Sellers, Twistello, Supa Kaliente, Odario, Dub Sonata and more.
Its foundation rooted in Golden Era boom bap, DJ Kevlar’s eclectic production recalls the seminal genre-bending work of iconic beatmakers like DJ Shadow, RJD2 and DJ Vadim, while also incorporating heavy global influences, with touches of Jamaican, Latin, and Afro-Brazilian stylings, not to mention memorable nods to Polowy’s own Polish and Irish immigrant ancestry.
Transitions & Transformations is a deeply personal work from Polowy, inspired by a tumultuous three-year stretch in the artist’s life that included a seismic career shift, a divorce, and the deaths of several friends. The album explores themes of hope, heartbreak, loss, healing, and ultimately, the sacrifices we’re willing to make in the pursuit of peace, happiness and chasing our dreams.
