A party rocking DJ, promoter and producer DJ Christoph (Maitland) has been at the forefront of Victoria, Canada's for two decades. Not one to be limited by genre, his expertly crafted house styles continue to light up dance floors today with: funky, chunky, techy, proggy, bassy, sassy, and nasty track selection. Be prepared to dance, it's music to make you move! Establishing himself as a showman and a technical DJ while playing the underground island circuit, Christoph won the Hush DJ Competition in 2002 and went on to be resident DJ until the clubs close in 2014. Hush being Victoria's House music club of the time, Christoph played hundreds of shows alongside players like DJ Dan, Steve Angello, Above & Beyond, Mark Farina, Dekoze, Johnny Fiasco, and Meat Katie. He was a regular main stage draw at Victoria Electronic Music Festival and played sets across the pond in Vancouver at the iconic Lotus nightclub, and parties at Plaza of nations and Pacific Coliseum. In 2010 Christoph switched gears to produce his own music enjoying success by hitting the Beatport top 100 charts with tracks Electric Finger (Electro), Fall Silently (as featured by DAW FL Studio 9) and a remix of Vespers - Lose Control (Breaks); while releasing on revered Canadian Breakbeat guru, Myagi's imprint, Pop & Lock. Gaining some superstar DJ support his original music heard plays by Annie Nightingale on BBC Radio 1 and Christopher Lawrence at Burning Man. Trying his hand at his own label with partner, Short Fuse Recordings put out an array of multi genre releases from 2012 - 2014 including artists he looked up to like Toby Emerson, UK breaks master Duane Barry and originals as alias' Disco Kitchen and Proggo. After a stint living in Vancouver where he held lounge residencies at institution Subeez, among others, Christoph moved back to Victoria and established the night Houseworx, now running 3 years strong at favourite, Lucky Bar. Happy to let others island shine in the spotlight, it showcases the best in local House Music, and is renowned for being upbeat, dance-friendly with thick party vibes. Christoph is proud to call Houseworx home along with local legend and early influence, producer and DJ Rennie Foster. In addition to his dance-centric house style, Christoph plays a multitude of lounge sets, playing deep house, hip hop, trip hop and electronica at venues like Glo, Commons, Lure and Boom & Batten. Recently he produces Pop music with a focus on good songwriting under alias POPTRONIX. Asked what the music means to him now compared to when he started in 1999, Christoph smiles and says "It's still the same. It's everything.
