DJ Around the Table

Join us for a cozy Saturday of “DJ Around the Table”, an original concept where DJs take turn playing two tracks.
Inspired by the Danish “rundt om bordet” table tennis game, DJs circle around the mixer and play music they like. See the cover image for an illustration!
You can also simply listen, dance, get inspired and meet new friends. There is no requirement for you to DJ, but you have the opportunity!
Two tracks allow DJs to be challenged by mixing the first into an unknown track played by the DJ before them, while they can show off their skills by mixing two tracks they know after.
There are no DJ skills requirements to participate and no “knockout” for bad beat matching. Just bring a USB with music you like and do your best to make the transition smooth.
To make it practical, we set some indicative BPM bands according to the schedule below:
15:00 – 16:00: Meet & greet + potential equipment trial
16:00 – 17:00: 120 – 130 BPM
17:00 – 18:00: 125 – 135 BPM
18:00 – 19:00: 130 – 140 BPM
19:00 – 20:00: 135 – 145 BPM
20:00 – 21:00: 145 – 155 BPM
21:00 – 22:00: 155 – 165 BPM
The idea is to build up the tempo over six hours from something like house to techno and then (psy)trance.
To participate, you simply add your name to the DJ list. After you have played, you scratch out your name and can then add it again to the end of the list. And that’s the dance!
We play on a Denon DJ Prime 4+ controller, compatible with exFAT and FAT32 USB file systems. Please make sure that your USB is formatted accordingly.
If you are in doubt, you can test it out during the meet & greet and become familiar with the controller.
The event is FREE, while we kindly ask you to support THE FUTURE by purchasing your drinks and snacks there or through donations.
It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time together and get to know the people from the association Electronic Music Odense and Funen (https://elektroniskmusikfyn.dk).
If you want to stay updated on all our activities and show support for a permanent electronic music venue in central Odense, we encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter (remember to confirm the subscription in the first email): https://elektroniskmusikfyn.substack.com/
