About this Event

✨ Celebrate Diwali by the water! 🪔

Come along to The Collective, Grand Union Canal for a relaxed and creative Diwali activity where you can make and decorate your very own biodegradable diya to take home.

We’ll begin with a short, gentle walk along the canal, giving you the opportunity to explore the waterway, enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature. Along the way, you’ll be invited to collect a few fallen leaves that can be used to add a natural and personal touch to your diya.

After the walk, we’ll return to The Collective for a hands-on diya-making and decorating session. You’ll have the opportunity to get creative, personalise your diya and make something unique to take home and enjoy as part of your Diwali celebrations. No previous craft experience is needed — just bring your imagination!

Everyone is welcome

This activity is open to all ages and everyone is welcome. Whether you celebrate Diwali as part of your own traditions, are learning about the festival for the first time, or simply want to try something creative and spend time by the water, you are warmly invited to join us.

The session is a chance to come together, get creative, connect with nature and enjoy the spirit of the Festival of Lights in a welcoming and inclusive space. You do not need any previous experience or knowledge of Diwali to take part.

Children must be accompanied by a trusted adult throughout the activity.
