About this Event
Must be DePaul Students, Faculty, staff or Alumni to attend.
This two-part workshop will teach patrons how to create mushroom lights by molding silicone, wiring LEDs, drilling wood, and soldering wire. The first part of the workshop will guide patrons through the soldering of LEDs to resistors and wires. Patrons will learn a formula to determine which resistors can be used with which LED colors, as well as how to solder neatly. Then, patrons will mix watercolor paint with silicone and cover and mold the mixtures over the wires using plastic wrap. The molds will dry between the workshop parts. For the second part of the workshop, patrons will attach their stems to their domes, drill holes into wood pieces, place their mushroom(s) inside, and secure them with silicone. Then, the wires will be soldered to the battery packs and patrons can decorate their wood with fake moss.
