About this Event
Create your own natural holiday wreath! Using fresh, local evergreens to bring a touch of festive winter joy to our homes is a centuries-old tradition and a delight for the senses. Whether you celebrate Christmas , Yule or just enjoy some greenery in your home during the darkest season of the year, it's fun to learn how to craft these timeless works of art. You'll leave with your very own medium-sized wreath to take home, as well as basic skills to use again and again. We'll also talk about tree identification and foraging, and a little lore about wreaths.
All materials are provided, and everything we will use—from the wreath forms themselves, to the evergreens and dried accents—are organic (non-certified) and sustainably harvested from our farm and woodlot in Caledon, ON, just 50km from Toronto.
No experience is required! Participants may wish to bring their own:
- Garden gloves
- Personal secateurs or garden snips
- Apron or clothes that can get messy— pine may have occasional sap drips
About your host: Mount Wolfe Branch Supply is the floral and foliage “branch” of Mount Wolfe Farm, an ecological farm in Palgrave, ON. Complementing our CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) share program and presence at local farmers’ markets, we supply sustainably harvested seasonal foliage and floral material to floral designers.
Instructor: Elena Potter works at Mount Wolfe Farm managing the Branch Supply project, working as part of the field crew, and is also a floral designer. With a background in visual arts and outdoor education, she is passionate about sharing a love for the nature and its beauty through creative practice and ecological stewardship.
