Find out about a proposed project to build a trail to connect Dixon Street Park in the City of Fredericksburg with the cul-de-sac at the eastern end of Caroline Street.
Come see proposed plans to build an approximately 10-foot-wide paved trail, a bridge over Hazel Run, retaining walls, and pedestrian/bicycle crossings under Route 3/Blue and Gray Parkway. Two potential alignments for the trail between Caroline Street and Dixon Park are being considered.
As part of the proposed project, on-the-road bicycle facilities would be built on Caroline Street between the end of the paved trail at the cul-de-sac and the Fredericksburg train station. Between the cul-de-sac and Dixon Street, the proposed design has “sharrow” pavement markings, indicating that vehicle and bicycle traffic should share the road. The proposed project will also build dedicated bicycle lanes between Dixon Street and Frederick Street.
Stop by between 5-7 p.m. to review proposed project plans and materials, ask questions, and offer comment. VDOT representatives will be present to answer questions about the project in an open house format.
