Tuesday 24 September 2024
9:00am – 3:00pm Invasive Species Collection – Frankston Pier
Snorkel / Scuba Dive
• Collect Wakame Seaweed
• Collect Northern Pacific Seastars
Lunch
• Count Seastar and Seaweed (Email results to Kade Mills (VNPA) and Port Phillip EcoCentre)
• Collect Epifauna from collection
• Film event to include in National Geographic Slingshot Video
Wednesday 25 September 2024

9:00am – 3:00pm Dipnetting Olivers Hill and Frankston Pier
• Collect and Photograph Marine Life at Olivers Hill and Frankston Pier
Lunch
• Use microscope and macroscope to photograph and identify species
• Film event to include in National Geographic Slingshot Video
Thursday 26 September 2024
9:00am – 3:00pm Nudibranch Census with Kade Mills (VNPA) – Blairgowrie Pier
Snorkel / Scuba Dive
• Photograph Nudibranchs
Lunch
• Submit pictures to iNaturalist – Nudibranch Census

9:00am – 3:00pm Work on National Geographic Slingshot
• Prepare collections for identification

Diveline's Marine Education Program is BACK for the School Holidays. Join Marine Biologist Paul Sorensen and Diveline Instructor Emily and see what amazing creatures and plants have made Port Philip Bay their home! For Children and Adults.
Program runs
Tuesday to Thursday 24-26 September 8:30am to 3:30pm
Tuesday to Thursday 01 - 03 October 8:30am to 3:30pm

Activities include:
-Scuba Diving and Snorkelling
-Collecting seaweed specimens and creating a marine herbarium
-Marine Flora and Fauna Identification
-Dip netting and examining specimens under a microscope
-Sea Dragon / Nudibranch Search
-Collecting invasive marine pests
-Using iNaturalist
-Freshwater health check at Kananook Creek using Waterbug App

Activities are weather dependant.
Prerequisite:
Interest in Marine Biology & Ocean Conservation
Ages 10 years and Over
Open Water Scuba Diving Certification or Snorkelling experience
*if you do not have one of these please contact the shop

School Holiday Program (6 Days)
Cost: Club Members $75 per day / $400 all 6 days
Non-Member $100 per day / $500 all 6 days

*Includes the cost of hiring scuba/snorkelling equipment. If you have all of your own equipment, it is $50 a day for the program.
*Schedule subject to change due to weather conditions
