? Calling all scuba-certified adventurers! Enter our Dive with Bull Sharks contest and help support the Fish Friends Scholarship fund. Let’s dive in for a cause! Are you ready to dive with the most dangerous shark on the planet? Most shark attacks happen in cloudy water where the shark can not see if you are a struggling fish or a person playing in the surf. Diving with sharks allows people to see they are amazing animals that do not target humans. The water within the exhibit is crystal clear, allowing the sharks to see we are not prey. The bull sharks at the Oklahoma Aquarium are involved in non-invasive research that saves lives worldwide!
The Dive with the Bull Shark contest is part of Sharklahoma, a month-long celebration of all things shark at the Oklahoma Aquarium in collaboration with the Jenks Chamber of Commerce. Visit our website, okaquarium.org, for more Sharklahoma events.
Contest winners will wear a 40-pound, $6,000 chainmail suit and a GoPro to swim alongside scuba-certified aquarium safety divers.
The deadline for entry is Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m., and winners will be announced in early August during a live drawing. The winner will be contacted, and the dive date will be arranged. The winner will receive a two-night stay at a hotel, a travel stipend, and a meal voucher for one winner and guest.
Not so fine Print: All contest entrants must be certified scuba divers, 18 or older, and provide their certification number prior to the dive. The aquarium's protective chain mail suits cannot accommodate individuals taller than 6'6" and/or weighing more than 250 lbs. Anyone exceeding those measurements is ineligible to win.
There will be a required checkout dive in advance. Entrants must be available for the test dive and sign a liability waiver before diving with the sharks.
The contest is only valid for U.S. citizens in the 48 contiguous United States.
Your registration is a donation that directly benefits the Fish Friend Scholarship Fund, which provides field trips to students in underserved schools at no cost to them.
