About this Event

This workshop is an opportunity for anyone who ever felt like their bike could shift a little better, wanted to make the adjustments themself, but wasn't sure where to begin. If you want to dive deep into derailleurs and learn all about how shifting systems come together, this is the class for you.

Our instructor will go over a variety of topics including:

  • Different types of derailleurs and mounts (ie: top pull, claw mount vs hanger mount)
  • How shifters affect derailleur choice & compatibility
  • Friction vs indexed shifting
  • Brand compatibilities
  • Checking and ensuring correct alignment for front and rear derailleurs (proper chainring clearance, how to use the alignment tool on the rear, visually inspecting rear derailleurs for straightness)
  • Pull ratios
  • Swapping out pulley wheels
  • Derailleur compatibility (which derailleurs will work with different cassette sizes (amount of cogs & gearing ranges/ratios)
  • Adjusting various limit screws (high/low/b-screw)
