About the Speakers: Cynthia Bruno & Kelly O’Neill, Co-Founders of The Miss Market and Girls Go For It
Cynthia Bruno and Kelly O’Neill have dedicated their personal and philanthropic lives to making the world a better place for women and girls. In 2015, they gave mentorship a makeover and launched Girls Go For It, a free after-school program that focuses on empowering young women through personal and professional development. It’s for 4th through 8th grade girls and is offered in both English and Spanish. GGFI has served more than 500 girls across 8 states.
Now, they’re using their combined corporate experiences in the media, finance, higher education healthcare, and consulting industries to take on shopping. Their new company, Miss Market makes it easier to shop with a purpose. They connect women founded, led and owned businesses and brands with women shoppers to create a sisterhood of support through meaningful spending.
In building the Miss Market directory and social media presence, they are also building a community, where they hope all women will find purpose and passion in lifting each other up.
Cynthia has degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University. She lives in Champaign, IL with her husband and three kids. It’s also where she runs her own strategic consulting business. She sort of likes running, really likes wine, and is always up for hosting family and friends.
Kelly has a B.S. and an M.Ed from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and resides in Chicago, IL with her partner and his daughter. She works as a campus recruiting manager for the largest dental support organization in the country. In her free time, you can find her traveling the world (pre-Covid), practicing yoga and meditation, and these days….expanding her impressive collection of silk masks.
