Uncover the amazing world of seagrasses at this Discovery Lab event! ๐ŸŒฑ
Through hands-on activities and simple demonstrations, you will learn how these underwater plants help protect coastlines, support ocean life, and provide essential habitat. Charlotte Henderson, a graduate student at UNC Wilmington and NOAA/NERRS Margaret A. Davidson fellow, will share her research on how these important grasses withstand and recover from warming waters, and how we can actively restore meadows to help support a healthy ocean and coastline.
Discovery Labs are free, family-friendly programs provided each month by educators at the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERR-VA) and the Batten School & VIMS. Designed with elementary-aged youth and their parents in mind, each lab focuses on a different topic related to the Chesapeake Bay and our local environment and includes exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities as well as a short presentation (from 6:30-7:00 PM) by an expert on the topic.
