Discovery Days (DD)- Day 2: Craft your Katsina Doll

On Day 2, discover the rich heritage and spiritual traditions of the Hopi people in this engaging, hands-on workshop. Participants will first learn about the history and deep cultural significance of traditional Hopi tithu (Katsina dolls)—sacred educational figures hand-carved from cottonwood roots to represent spirit messengers. Following the educational discussion, attendees will participate in a creative, mixed-media art session. Using wooden pegs, feathers, and paper, participants will craft their own interpretive spirit figures inspired by the colors and symbolic attributes learned during the presentation.
