Discovering the Hooker Pioneer Cemetery
Please join The Irondequoit Historical Society & The Irondequoit Public Library on Thursday, November 14th, as we welcome the president of the Irondequoit Historical Society, Ellen Fleche. We will virtually stroll along with her at the Hooker Pioneer Cemetery, which is located at 1500 Portland Avenue. This little gem is situated to the left of the parking lot at St. Ann’s Community. Ellen will highlight gravestones of several of Irondequoit’s early pioneers, as well as the life of the Alexander Hooker family.
Ellen is an antiques dealer at Ontario Mall Antiques, both in Irondequoit and in Farmington. She collects antiques and rare books. She enjoys managing the displays at the Pioneer House and the Library, as well as giving tours of the historic complex during the Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings.
This event will be held at 7:00 PM in a first-floor meeting room of the Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave, 14617. The program is free and open to the public.
