Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the first dinosaur with artist Julia Thaxton who will lead you on an imaginative journey of discovery and use playful drawing games to create your art.
The workshop will begin with a journey of discovery in the Museum. Armed with pencils & paper, you’ll take a closer look at the dinosaur exhibits, making sketches and notes from your observations. Imagine you are an explorer, encountering these artefacts for the first time in the field. In a temporary suspension of reality, Julia will lead the group through a series of playful drawing exercises to explore alternative possibilities and extrapolate an imaginary new dinosaur of your own discovery.
The workshop will be playful and accessible to people who don't consider themselves artists. The idea behind the exploratory exercises and drawing games is to find a way to access the more playful side of exercise of your imagination, and return to the childlike enthusiasm for possibilities and alternative realities that all too often get lost as we move into the more reality-focused world of adulthood.
Suitable for ages 16+.
Part of the Oxford IF festival.
Tickets cost £10. Book online.
