About this Event
Discover How Nature Builds, Grows & Flows
Join us for a 3.5-hour nature walk that brings Edmonton's river valley to life through the eyes of a naturalist. Participants will explore winding trails, discover the plants and wildlife that call the city home, and learn how these living communities are connected through natural cycles, relationships, and seasonal rhythms.
With gentle walking, hands-on activities, time to relax by the river, and opportunities for free exploration, this experience blends curiosity, ecology, and permaculture thinking into an unforgettable afternoon outdoors.
- Explore tiny animal homes
- learn to identify Native Plants that support and feed a wide diversity of wildlife
- Discover the origins of the Saskatchewan River and how it carves its way through our city
- A Day of discovery followed by an opportunity to create some calming art to take home at the end of the day.
To encourage independence and connection with peers, youth are encouraged to attend without parents or caregivers remaining on site. However, parents or caregivers are welcome to stay if need be.
The walk is hosted by Michelle Harris, Founder and Operator of Nature Loop https://www.natureloop.ca/ and Author of the Green Side of Edmonton (signed copies available onsite)
Our outing begins at 1:00pm at the entrance into Sir Wilfred Laurier Park and ends at 4:30pm at the same location. Look for Michelle in the south end of the Zoo parking lot holding a Canadian Flag.
Parking: available at the Zoo Parking Lot
